Good afternoon! It's Friday, and the start of a long and eventful weekend!! Most mornings I wake up about 8:30 am, sleep walk my way to my coffee press, chill out in my living room on Tumblr for what seems like hours but is really only maybe an hour and a half until I am fully awake and functional to do some Yoga or Pilates. I think it is very important to take time to wake up the way you need to but also leave time for some movement, get your blood flowing before going off to do whatever it is you planned to do for the day. For me it's sometimes hard to get a workout in because I get very bored and distracted very easily. I hate running on a treadmill, I would rather hike. I don't care for weight lifting I would rather do Yoga, Zumba, or Pilates. I also am not a fan of group classes or gym memberships.
Today I have decided to go completely outside the bubble.... and attend an Aerial Silks class!! Yes a class, with a group of real people! No, I have never done aerial silks before, but what the hell, why not? At first I didn't know what I got myself into. I mentioned I am not the kind of girl that joins classes.. any classes... but seeing as I was already there I forced myself to get out of my car and go inside. The sign up process was easier than expected and the instructor was very interesting. I second guessed myself again, mostly because I am also not the type of girl to take directions and do things I don't want to. It was in that moment I realized I not only wanted to take the class for a new way of activity and exercise but I also needed some kind of self discipline. I needed to branch outside my comfort zone, be more open to other peoples ways of doing things. Learn something NEW.
The class ended up being amazing. We did stretches, talked about the bodies movement, and went on to learn a Russian and a French stance on silk while in the air. I also learned how to do a few different pullover techniques which reminded me of being a kid again, which I love!! I am soo proud of myself for actually doing it, and loving it, I plan to buy a package of classes so I can continue this awesome new way of exercise. For any one else that struggles with working out, and routines I strongly recommend looking into new and inspiring ways to get your blood flowing. You Tube in itself has millions of videos on different ways to get the body moving. You can also check out new hikes near you or parkour off some buildings depending on your ability to move :)
Thank you for taking time out to read, I will be posting more interesting yet random blogs in the near future :) ~camberlynn
